Back To Life, Back To Monogamy
Aug. 18th, 2008 06:19 pmSunday - Thought briefly about hooking up in the morning, but that didn't last. Ken called, to let me know he was coming home early, which was swell. I did eat the leftovers from the night before, but also worked out and studied. When he got home, we talked briefly about his weekend. He was happy with it. He asked me if I'd come to any conclusions, and I responded no, but I wasn't the one who took a weekend off to come to them. Good point. The biggest conclusion he'd come to was that he wants to stay in the relationship. I was definitely glad about that. He asked a couple more questions regarding Friday and Saturday night, and I answered them before letting him know I'd hooked up with another two people over the weekend. The usual pause, the usual disappointment. He mentioned that he made out with some guy in the pool, but opted not to hook up with anyone, and that this weekend was almost sort of a test for him - if he could go a weekend with dick all over the place and not step out, then he was okay. I don't really understand what that had to do with anything, but I'm glad he came to that conclusion nonetheless. He mentioned that Brandon had closed his relationship because Chris couldn't show discretion...I'm guessing something to do with Matthew? He said he didn't want to do monogamy for just that reason, but that he needed to be able to be at work and not worry if I was hooking up...............I know, Right? Asked if this was just something I needed to get out of my system, like I thought it was with Anthony, or what. I tried really hard not to "throw things in his face", but still bring up the times he's stepped out, and how I just kind of had to deal with it, that all of mine were within the rules. He quite correctly brought up that he'd mentioned at the very beginning that frequency was going to be a problem for him, and that he was moving away from his promiscuous self. We went round for a little while, but settled on giving monogamy another shot. Getting my notches is important to me. Doing it without him there isn't. It helps a lot that he's comfortable just watching, or having minimal participation. I don't understand it, but I'm grateful for it. I would have liked to have gone back to being all cuddly right after, but he had laundry to do, and went over to Justin's. He wanted to go out to dinner, though Justin mentioned maybe a BBQ at Nelson's. Nelson came over, and when I was leaving for rehearsal, Nelson and Justin were just talking about getting food and stuff from the store. Ken said to call when I got out of rehearsal, and he would let me know what the plans were.
Rehearsal went well. I should have talked to The Boy as soon as I saw him about the conclusion Ken and I came to, but he was a little late and I needed to secure us a room, and he didn't ask. Bah. Called Ken afterwards, who was just sitting home, finishing up laundry and watching Kathy Griffin. I headed over, helped fold the last of the laundry, and watched the rest of the show. Ken turned on the Olympics afterwards, content just to sit on the opposite side of the couch from me. I queried regarding Justin and the like, and he mentioned that Justin was over at Nelson's. A little later, I queried if he had any idea what he might like for dinner, and he mentioned he'd gone for Panda Express. I went to our room to poke about on the computer, even though he stopped me, before I realized I could just sit on the couch with my laptop. I love my laptop. I updated my LJ, even though he got jealous of the attention paid to it and started interfering, typing random letters and the like. I got up to make myself some dinner, and came back to find some of his typing on my screen. Left it there, and continued writing. Even after I finished, I kept on browsing e-mail and the like. We stayed up much later than I expected, and I eventually just couldn't take any more sitting on the couch, so I laid on the bed and read my book for law school. He came to bed not long after, citing how very tired he was, and we laid down to sleep.
I'd been hoping for sex, of course, but that didn't happen, of course. He did hit me with a pillow at one point, and then start to tickle me, citing "bedbugs", and finally licked my face. I'm not sure if this is some sort of weird Kindergarten courtship thing, or he was just having trouble sleeping, or a combination of the two, but I opted to hit him back with a pillow, eventually swat his hands when he tickled, and lick him back. He didn't want to be licked, and we ended up wrestling for a good 10 min, a good 8 minutes past the point where it was any kind of joke. When I finally licked his face, he got up and went to the bathroom to check his arms for red marks/injuries, and finding none, came back to bed in silence. Eventually, he mentioned again that I am too competitive, and how winning is just too important to me. We laid there a while longer, but eventually he touched me, and we went to bed.
I had another of those disturbing, graphic dreams, but I couldn't remember it on waking.
