Why not? I've posted it everywhere else.
Aug. 26th, 2005 10:50 amSo my B-day is coming up soon, and Aimee has agreed to help me make a Pake. That is, a cake with a pie sandwiched inside (this being NSM and all).
Here's where the post comes in: I have an idea of how to make a Pake, but nothing concrete, so any suggestions there would certainly be welcome. More importantly, I have absolutely no idea what kind of Pake I want to make. The options are twice as endless as the variations on cake or pie (twice as endless??...meh), so I'd like suggestions for that. Chef Deb (from www.vegsource.com) has been kind enough to make some reccomendations for Pakes to bake:
Vanilla cake with coconut cream pie in the middle.
Chocolate cake with peanut butter pie in the middle.
Strawberry cake with banana cream pie in the middle
Right now I'm leaning towards the Strawberry one, but the Vanilla sounds awful tasty as well. I suppose I could also make a Vanilla/Strawberry Cream Pake, or a Strawberry/Coconut Cream Pake, or even a Chocolate/Strawberry Cream Pake....
Finally, I'm a little dissatisfied that I couldn't think of anything more creative than sandwiching a pie in a cake, although I love my new word. So, if anyone has any ideas for something other than a Pake, that continues the sheer cosmic joy that is National Sandwich Month, I'd also love to hear ideas for that. Even if you don't have any ideas, thanks just for reading.

Date: 2005-08-30 12:07 pm (UTC)We are absolutely on for Pake tonight; I'm skipping my last two classes, so I should be home by 7:30. Figure maybe 8ish? I'll have Pake, milk, soymilk, and some kind of juice. Feel free to bring whatever you feel is missing from that list. Personally, the only thing that I want more than Pake is a Pake large enough to swim in, as in, "go jump in the Pake", but that's me. Ookay, see you then.
