Methzophrenia
Jan. 12th, 2021 03:45 pmWoke up crazy early, couldn't get back to sleep. But it was okay. I spent time with Lady Miss Friday and ended up running over to Ralph's. I was just about out of coffee, I'd run out of "cheese," and I figured this way I could probably get my credit card zeroed out for the next statement. I was actually really happy with my grocery choices. No cookies, no booze, didn't even buy bread. I did buy "cheese." I think it's a decent harm reduction treat.
I normally make sure I take care of my morning duties before any of my paralegal work, but I'm getting a little better about my anxiety where that's concerned. It was another productive, if incredibly busy, day. It didn't help that I kept clicking over to rip into that TERF. Also didn't help that Lady Miss Friday wanted to lay under the covers against my leg. Google Translate, any time you wanted to enable me to understand my cat.... No rush. I also bought a digital copy of Batman Returns for Colleen. Sort of. I tried to buy it on Amazon, but the processing circle just spun forever. I bought it on YouTube, but not only could I only buy it for me, not gift it, apparently her TV is wonky, and having trouble playing YouTube. Or something. At this rate, I'll just pirate a digital copy and send it to her.
I got my Ancestry results: 32% Jewish, 22% Irish, 27% Italian (13/14, Southern & Northern). I sent them to Colleen, and was going to send them to my mom, but then I remembered she'd left me a voicemail the other night that I hadn't gotten around to listening to. I listened, and it was arguable progress. She wasn't sure, but she'd read they were going to institute martial law and cut off all internet, phones, etc. The "not sure" part is the progress. She couldn't open the results, though, and I couldn't get a full screen shot of them. I'll figure it out later.
At the very end of my shift, I heard someone knocking. I didn't see any texts or anything on my phone, so I stayed hidden in my cave. They knocked a few more times, and I did eventually peek out. It was Sean, with his dog Ben. He hugged on to me like I was a buoy in the middle of a hurricane. Sobbed some, too. Methzophrenia had hit him pretty bad, even though he hasn't used in a few days or so. He might have a couple felonies waiting for him when he gets out of rehab, based on smashing a few windows. He used my phone to text his ex, Brandon, who had also posted bail for him. Wanted him to tell his folks he was okay. Brandon called, and I talked to him for a bit. It was pretty healthy and rational, I think, and I read him the line from Kathy on my get well card. Talked about picking yourself up, no matter how hard or how many times you fall.
Sean was hungry, so I let him order dinner. I didn't really feel comfortable buying him meat, though, and told him so. He got a Sofritas burrito from Chipotle. Fine, but it was nearly $20 after everything. I've spent more on less. Julian also texted me, because he hadn't received his benefits in a couple weeks. I didn't find out what he need$, though. Sean crashed on my couch. IDGAF, but I had to keep reminding myself that The Girls are prey creatures, they'll stay in Mouse Kingdom while Ben is here.
