Mystery Gifts
Dec. 15th, 2020 07:02 pmBright Eyed and Bushy...pretty much everything but my Tail, come to think of it. I was gonna zip over to Ralph's before work, maybe snag some BOGO sushi if they had it, and then get my tires figured out on my lunch. But my car wouldn't start. Again. At this point, it's clear that I should just leave my car out of it. When I'm not allowed to work from my Cave anymore, then I'll fix it, but before that, I simply won't be using it enough to justify jumping it again. I went ahead and ordered delivery from Ralph's, but the guy fucked up and spent $20 more than he was supposed to. So I'll probably walk over one of these days before work, just to swap tortillas. Does this mean I can say I'm detail oriented now? I did, at least, do laundry. I even washed Pupple's sex doll! I also ordered a space heater for Lady Miss Friday. Yep, I'm that guy. But you knew that.
My day for NOAs, and I didn't do too badly at it, but I forgot one of the CRIM and mixed up one of the DEP. I've really gotta send Laura that apology. A couple weeks ago, JJD suggested we get presents for Carl and Kathy since they've been taking turns going into the office so everyone else can work remotely. I'm not Anna-level (who is?), but I'm decent at giving thoughtful gifts. When no one else had any ideas, I suggested something musical for Carl - maybe a trumpet print, or mug, or cuff links. Kathy we were maybe going to get some tequila or coffee for. She'd been sending cartoons about the "12 days of Xmas" and joking with JJD about onion rings, so I suggested bracelets that look like onion rings, maybe even gold bangles. 5 of them. I found onion ring earrings, but I didn't think the joke would come through clear enough. We were going to get her a Starbucks gift card, but I overthought it and felt really weird getting Carl a lasting, personal gift and her... a gift card. At the same time, I lost my patience with no one being able to decide, and just bought trumpet cuff links for Carl and a personalized Chihuahua mug for Kathy. There was extra shipping for the mug to get it in time, but worth it at this point. Unfortunately, I caught myself in a trap. As you're aware, I have a hard time asking for money, even if it's owed to me. But also, there's the fact that none of us are even seeing these gifts - I shipped them straight to the office. So in order for the others to feel like this is "from" us, and not just...whatever you call that thing where a parent or teacher or someone buys a present and says it's from everyone, they've got to have some skin in the game. Maybe they'd feel it just by having input on what I bought, but...I'll probably tell them the full truth. I spent more than we were supposed to, here's my Paypal/Venmo, there is really, truly, for realsies no need to put any money in.
I heard some track on a mix by a gent named Yoste, called "Chihiro." I liked it, but I'd heard the melody somewhere before. I went hunting through my History, through all my Playlists, and...nothing. I tried looking up the lyrics, and still nothing. Finally, I went to the comments sections, and eventually found that it was some track by Amber Run called "I Found." Yay that I pounced, but it almost left more questions. I have no idea where or when I heard it. There was A LOT of music I heard while high as a kite, but I'm not sure that was one of them.
