It's been a kuh-razy week, but things should calm down now.

Thursday - Work was not so slow that I could get out early, and not so busy that we had an opportunity to work OT. Suited me fine, because I had another dress rehearsal for Nutcracker. I had to stay through for the whole show, to do it once with Cast A, and once with Cast B, except that the transitions were so choppy that they only got through Cast A, and finally sent me home at 8:15. Got home at almost 9 to find an ominous message from the Dr.'s office and called Ken, who was still at poker with Dallas. When he did get home, he was a bit tipsy, and quite upset with me for not noticing the pillows and things he had bought to spruce up the place. As he put it "I try to get nice things for us, and you don't notice!". I tried to remind him that I don't notice the screen half the time until I walk into it, but he wouldn't hear of it. I started drinking, and he, fortunately more observant than I, noticed my bad mood, and became very sweet and loving. We got ready for bed, and spent a little while chatting before snuggling in for the night. Ken totally wins at cuddling during torrential downpours (or at least, what passes for that here in San Diego).

Friday - I expected we would get out early, which was good, because I was nervous as hell about what the fuck my doctor wanted. I started calling the office at 8, but wasn't able to talk to someone until almost noon. The whole time, I'm slamming work so that I have time to run down there before the show. The folks at the office couldn't seem to find my file, but I eventually got it out that they just hadn't drawn enough blood the first time. No emergency, no dire news, just more blood. Whew! Although it did suck to have to drive all the way down there just for that. On the plus side, my hard work paid off because I was able to do that and run to Whole Foods, and still be home before I would normally be off of work! Ken had taken the afternoon off to wait for our new dinette set to arrive, and was busy cleaning when I got there. I hadn't eaten much, but calmed down a bit once I was home and had things to do. I made my Walnut Cheesecake dip, and cleaned a little, and then headed up to Scripps for Nutcracker. The show went really really well, and I'm only in the first half hour. Ran back home, picked up Ken, and we drove up to the Ameritrade holiday party at the Torrey Pines Hilton. We were a little late, so unable to register for Fabulous Prizes, but I said hi to the folks I needed to say hi to, introduced Ken, and then we headed downtown to Stingaree for Nikki's holiday party. I didn't know many of the people there, and the music wasn't what I would call top notch. Despite this, I had an excellent time. I met several wonderful people, ate sun dried tomatoes in bulk, and managed to shake my groove thing at least a little. I figure, yes, I would have had a better time dancing at Rich's (Bryan Pruett was spinning), but honestly, I'm never going to go to Stingaree again, much less be in a VIP booth there with an open bar. Got home around 2, and a very very drunk Ken had something of a serious conversation with me, except that he literally flipped his point half-way through a monologue. If only I had also been drunk, I'm sure it would have made more sense. It ended on a sweet note, which is all that really matters.:-D

Saturday - For whatever reason, I woke up at 4 and simply COULD NOT go back to sleep. I laid in bed for a little while, before finally getting up. Took a picture of Ken laying diagonally across the bed so I would have proof for later, then worked out a bit, groomed a bit, and started cleaning the bathroom until I heard "Hey Cinderella! You can quit cleaning and come to bed now!" Reluctantly climbed back into bed, where we chatted and snuggled, and eventually had rockin' hang-over type sex. Got up, did a bunch of running around for Wine Night, which took way longer than expected. Ken had to go on the last of the errands without me, since I needed to leave for Nutcracker at 1. He left at 12 though, so I had just enough time to make the Stuffed Dates before leaving. I had originally been going to stay up in Scripps Ranch, since I had another show at 7, and was in fairly dire need of sleep at this point, but I decided to run home between shows. This was supposed to be me and Ken hosting, not him hosting and me also happening to live there. It left me less time to sleep, but I absolutely made the right decision. Ken had gone a little crazy with his last shopping trip, as far as decorations and the gift bags we were giving out. There was lots to be done, and it slowed down just in time for me to sleep for about a half hour before I had to leave for the show again. I was a cranky cranky man when I woke up - apparently a couple people asked if they could bring things, even though we said food would be provided, and when told "no", decided they were going to bring them anyway. I'm not sure if I found it more of a snub that people were bringing things when they were told not to, or that the things they were bringing were not vegan. For the particular people involved, though, it's not a snub, it's just a little like the way I get when I want to help, and I had to remind myself of that. Got back from the show just as people were starting to arrive, and fixed myself a glass of wine. The night was a smashing success! Everyone had a wonderful time, met new people, chatted, and was out the door by 11:30. The most important part for me, of course, was that people loved the stuffed dates, and absolutely ADORED the Walnut dip. See vegan. See vegan win. Win vegan, win. :-D My mind was still racing, even after everyone had left, the dishes were done, and the trash was taken out, so I kind of wanted to go dancing at Montage, but my body knew better and I was out almost immediately upon laying down. What a wonderful time!
