Best Friday EVER!
Nov. 17th, 2007 02:09 pmThere was tons of food at work on Friday - Bagels, cake, Pat & Oscars, donuts. I couldn't have any of the latter, but I more than made up for it with the number of bagels I ate. :-D Also lovely was that I was able to get out of work early, if only by an hour. Long enough to run to TJ's for weekend essentials (vodka), Joe-joes, and had a chat with Anthony about a dream he'd had involving a miniature walrus. The joe-joes were for a girl on the PPK who lives in Lincoln, NE, and has no TJ's anywhere near her - I made the promise while I was drunk, but I would have made it sober, so it was all good. I figure what's $20 to make someone's holiday season? I had been going to take my car in to get some work done, but really didn't have time after all that, and I had forgotten to print my coupon anyway. I walked around Whole Foods, and was going to head to Bristol Farms, but got sidetracked by BookStar (worst book store ever, if you're wondering). Had my last shoot of the season for The House, and then headed home.
Ken and Dallas were going to see Kelly Clarkson at the Civic Center, and I pulled up just as they were driving off, which was pretty much the timing I had figured on. Ken called, and agreed to meet at Rich's when the concert got out. Mostly just putzed around at home - talked to Alicia and Jason about joining us, though only Alicia opted in, pre-drank, and headed out. I got there just in time, I think, though Alicia beat me. She offered to buy me a drink, but I wisely declined. The DJ was awesomeawesomeawesome and the floor filled up much faster than it usually does. We danced for a bit, took a breather to leave messages for Ken, than danced more. Ken finally got there, and the DJ turned it up a notch - I was sweating, so I took my shirt off for the first time (in a club/public situation) in weeks. It was a simply wonderful time. We tapped out before Alicia did (that girl can party!) and headed home.
Had probably our best tipsy heart-to-heart ever on the stairs to our apartment. I was worried, earlier this week, that I was too dependent on Ken, or smothering or something, which is ironic because he's felt very distant from me all week long, and is very bothered by my drinking so much. He also mentioned that he still feels pressure to find things for us to do every night. I promised to try to only drink on those nights that he does, and the night ended on a really really positive note. Also, he recorded "Be Still" and "Maybe" from the concert, and played them for me. He's so thoughtful!
Sleeping was really where the action was, though. One of those nights were we just kind of wake up in the middle of the act, keep going for a little while, go back to sleep....did that about 3 times, until we finally went to sleep for real at 8:30.
