Or Whatever
Oct. 28th, 2016 09:01 amLaunch day for the website. Reactions from friends were positive, reactions from strangers and friends who didn't realize it was me were a little more mixed. "These guys are hot, but the cosplay is lazy." all the way to "OMGGGGGGG THIS IS HLARRIUS. how have i mised this?!?!"
Hit the gym after work, then home to get ready for the parties. The SD Gaymers were first, down in Chula Vista. From the FB conversations (including someone asking if there would be drinks there, or if they should bring something), I gathered it would be a younger, messier crowd. The CMG/SAGA party was later, but out by college. I used almost a full piece of hair chalk on my head, but it was still only red in the light. GRR.
Keagan messaged me, asking if I had any plans this weekend. On the one hand, of course I do. On the other hand, I was hermiting away for a while, so it's a valid question. They were very late getting to my place, and Chris had to borrow my bunny hat for a costume. Keagan was wearing most of what looked like a Seaworld character, but without the head. On the front was a label that the thrift store had helpfully provided, reading "Shark, Dolphin, or Whatever." It was perfect, and Keagan was perfect in it.
Finally got down to the party, Keagan made me a drink even though I was going to stay sober. Fortunately(?), it didn't agree with my stomach, so I stayed with mixers for the rest of the night. One person got my costume immediately, everyone else was a little more skeptical. Aaron gave me the nickel tour, asked about Julian. Awkward.
The party was indeed young and messy. So few of us brought booze, and of such mixed varieties, they rapidly ran out of one thing, so started drinking another. One young queen threw up by the end of the night, a couple people dropped bottles outside. Not actually as bad as I was thinking, all considered.
Keagan and Chris seemed to be having a great time, so I let us stay way later than anticipated. It was only about 12:30 when we left, and they wanted to go to the CMG party, but it was likely also dying, so I dropped them off at home instead.
