A Rather Mundane Week
Jul. 6th, 2007 07:54 amMy mood took an inexplicable dip early last week, for no reason I can think of except that it had been up for a long time and wanted some variety. It's back now, though. :-)
Tuesday after work, Ken and I walked to Bombay for some Kabuli before meeting Brandon and Chris at Ono sushi for dinner and drinks. Dinner was fun, though it went too long, and I thought the food was overpriced...I guess I wouldn't think so if I could fully enjoy the stuff. At any rate, we went back to Ken's to regroup and have a couple drinks before heading out to Rich's. We were all having a good time, except that Brandon mentioned something about the first time I went to Glenn's (the time that Ken made out with Matthew), which seemed to me to imply that I had been less than a saint at that same party....I started by politely requesting clarification, since our memories seemed to differ on the subject, and ended up yelling long after he had left the house...Ken spent the rest of the evening calming me down...I feel bad that I went off the handle like that, but I felt I was being unspeakably wronged. I've since apologized for being so ornery, and things are fine now.
I had to work on the 4th, and was slightly hung over, but I got up early, and left early, so it was alright. On my way back to Ken's, I stopped at Trader Joe's for some vodka and "ice cream", but they didn't have the flavor I wanted, so I was just going to get vodka. I noticed some lovely bouquets of flowers at the register, and decided to buy them for Ken. Flowers are usually a serious apology, and while my actions the night before were not the actions of the stellar boyfriend I've been lately, there was certainly no need for flowers. I bought them anyway, just because I was in a good mood. Ken hadn't quite gotten around to getting out of bed, so I joined him for a quick workout there, and then we helped Justin garden. We went to Glenn's for a bit, and Justin and Ken took a dip in the pool and had a drink while I napped. I drove us over to Lesbian Linda's, since both Ken and Justin had been drinking, where we arrived just before most of the people started arriving. This was perfect, as it allowed us to chat with the couple of friends we already knew there before things got busy. The buns weren't vegan, but I had brought "hot dogs", and there was lots of other stuff I could have (fruit, nuts, chips & guac). I ate kind of a lot, but not so much that I felt bad about it. Ken tapped out soon after people started arriving in bulk, and I had no problem taking him home. We spotted Elizabeth on our way in, and invited her to have a cocktail with us before we went out elsewhere. She came up, but we ended up just chatting the whole night instead. It was a good, relaxing day, overall.
Thursday I kind of messed up a little...I wasn't hungry in the early morning, when I normally eat breakfast, so I ended up not eating..I hadn't been eating a lot all week long, so this kind of fucked with me, and by the time I got to Ken's I was light-headed. He had been going to go to the gym after work, but opted instead to invite me out running with him. After I had a "hot dog", we went for a delightful little run, and then did push-ups at home. My total push-ups for the day came to 150, and I was a happy happy boy.
We opted out for poker (I really don't see me going very often), and Ken decided he wanted to bake something....we really didn't have any ingredients, so we went to the store to try to pick up a basic Muffin Mix, that we could add stuff into.....sadly, the store carries nothing of the sort, and we spent almost an hour there picking up and putting back various ingredients...finally settled on a fat-free chocolate cake recipe I have, but we were still missing cocoa, so we went back to my house for a brief second to obtain some. I should also have snagged some vanilla extract and apple cider vinegar, but really had no way of transporting them. We did the best we could, and made 3 mini-cakes out of the recipe, with Duncan Hines Cream Cheese Frosting (happens to be vegan!). Look how fun and homey we are! The amazing thing was not really the cakes, but the fact that we gave one away, ate the second one together over the course of the weekend, and the third one is still in there! Look at me, not eating everything in sight!
