We took Olive into town with us, parked at Chip's gym building, then walked a couple blocks to the parade site. I put on my sparkly speedo and chatted with Little Ryan. We are very very different, Ryan and I, but stopped taking before this became an issue. I also met Spencer, who is absolutely gorgeous. The parade was an absolute blast. Basically a mile-long stage, and an extremely enthusiastic audience. The little goth/punk kids with dyed hair and rainbow gloves reminded me of a young The Chrys. The one exception was the guy behind me, who kept making snide remarks. Jealous bitches. We took Olive to the dog park after, then I got a text from Scott that he was at the festival. Huzzah! The festival was huge, and it took a while to find him, but we eventually got there. Even better, on the way to lunch, I heard "Ritual Union" blasting from one of the tents. Excitedly texted as much to friends. We went to lunch at Whole Foods...kind of a mistake, really, because the food was overpriced and awful. Scott was slightly stand-offish at lunch, but did kiss me goodbye. He texted later, to say he was really just scared of getting in trouble for fucking me on a checkout stand. Awwww!

We made it onto the next ferry, and after a surprisingly long drive, found my parent's place. I was extremely upset that my parent's dogs didn't want Olive to come in, so she had to wait in the car. My parents had wanted me to spend the night. This was a ridiculous request to begin with. Chip lives over 2 hours away, and my parents were not willing to drive me anywhere. I'm not willing to take a $100 cab ride, nor am I willing to have Chip make that trek again. Really, the final straw had been that earlier in the week, she asked what I could eat. I've been vegan for damn near my entire adult life. Google is a thing. I absolutely refuse to have to go through this again. I had white bread and white rice for dinner. On the plus side, Chip and my parents got along famously. My parents still wanted me to spend the night, and I said that if they wanted to drive me back to Vashon Island in the morning, I would. Chip and I left, but barely missed the last ferry.

A guy called me while we waited, but his hotel was at the other ferry terminal. Kind man that he is, Chip was willing to wait, but no. Actually, if it had been just us, I might have gone for it. But Olive had been in the car most of the day, and it wasn't fair to her that we let her sit.

We got home, rehashed the day over drinks, and Olive finally slept on my side of the bed.
