Warning Shot
Jul. 20th, 2021 04:30 pmMy fun phone failed to fuel up, but the wifi at ADI is fried anyway. Alliteration and assonance! The wifi isn't quite dead, it's just so bad it doesn't work. Maybe just for my phones or something? I left them charging at home so they'd at least be good for after. Got up and into the office okay, just ran a little behind because I tried to stay with LMF as long as possible. I was grumpy at all the construction in progress and finished to take away parking, at still not having a key, at having to be there instead of with Lady Miss Friday at all. But holy fuckballs, it was a good thing I've got my own office. And no one else was there. Kathy actually was there, but we didn't talk or anything. When I remembered to turn on music, it helped a lot, it just felt weird without headphones.
I know I usually wave to Julian before diving into Lady Miss Friday, but I thought I'd try to be like . ..a husband and stuff, and be perky and affectionate. He wasn't home when I got there so....LMF! He'd texted me to call him earlier in the morning, but didn't answer when I called. Speak of the Julian and he walked in instead! But he was not doing well. There was some confusion about the date and time of his appointment, he'd walked to Chase, then BofA, then home (I think?), then back to Chase, but had no new bank account to show for it. He owed BofA some money, the wiring it and notifications takes time, etc. I mostly just rubbed his back, as he signified he was looking to vent, not for solutions.
He couldn't find the quarters earlier but needed laundry done because his clothes all smelled like cigarettes.and chocolate milk. He asked for more groceries and most of what we needed was TJ's. It turns out their vegan hummus and dip options have multiplied. There's time... Unless they discontinue them. He also asked for more beer and I'm terrible at saying no. We were gonna get it at TJ's, but Julian lamented not having his ID out loud and I forgot mine as well. Ralph's didn't check and we picked up more groceries. He wanted burgers again so we got the bulk Boca- 12 burgers for $10. Not the cheapest, I think, but the cheapest, from what I could figure out in my head, didn't have any vegan options in stock. Snagged his beer and cigarettes. I still need to find an ecig for him to swap to. Preferably one that he can slowly further swap to weed with. Maybe Juul pods? We were in the car driving home when we thought to make fries. I suggested the çhik'n and cheeze taquito bites instead, started cooking everything up but then remembered his laundry. He said it would be fine to wear something again for tomorrow, but I wasn't about to risk prosecution under Murphy's Law. I managed to get it done just before the laundry room officially closed. Julian had to finish cooking since I was busy, but I'd only made his order for the burgers. I figured there'd be enough leftover for me anyway, but he freaked out so I made one of the leftover Buffalo Chik'n burgers.
Unfortunately, when I sat down, the couch shifted and knocked his mattress over and on top of Juno. A small box by the table stopped it from crushing him, but he scrambled out limping behind the ruins of Mouse Kingdom. I shut down, Julian tried to coax him out a couple times, eventually succeeded with treats. Whatever works. Juno was no longer limping, just still looked freaked out. That's not an unusual look on his kids, come to think of it, but I obviously earned this one. I thought more about what to do for them but came to no conclusions
