Tina! Bring Me Success
Mar. 7th, 2012 01:13 pmNorman the regular came by in the morning, and we got all caught up. We're finding our groove.
Christina Sosa took me out to lunch near her work, to celebrate being done with the Bar Exam. I'll thank her publicly on FB after results come out, but I'm also going to do it more privately here. She has been my personal Jesus for years through everything I went through in law school. I am a big believer that when you need something, you'll search until you find it somewhere, but 1) that doesn't detract from the value of the individual you do find it from, and 2) I'm not sure I could have gotten what she gave anywhere else.
When I had a crisis 3rd semester, because I misinterpreted an assignment YET AGAIN, she gave me a pep talk about law school being like any other hazing process. When I got my DUI 4th semester, she took me out to breakfast, shared her own DUI story. When it turned out I didn't graduate last year, she made sure I was sticking around for my JD, explaining to me, because I didn't understand, that my grades weren't bad because of any intrinsic ineptitude on my part, but rather an unwillingness, for whatever reason, to put in the time. Finally, several times throughout the Bar process, she talked me through it with her strategies. Now, post-bar, waiting for results, she shared her thoughts on the exam, her experience taking it, as well as her life as a new attorney. It was really nice.
I stopped at the Balboa pool on the way back, intending to swim laps. I'm visiting a friend in Seattle from the 20-22, he swims all the damn time, and I want to have my speedo tanline and some endurance back by then. Unfortunately, no one was swimming when I got there, and I have a pathological fear of swimming alone. Did a regular workout instead, and it was great. I sometimes feel like my divas are almost literally singing me through my workout. Rooting for me, even exercising alongside me as they sing, and I'd like to make a commercial reflecting such someday.
I emailed the friend I'm visiting about my day. He likes my idea, and likes how much I care for animals. He thought my fear of sharks was silly - he's never seen a shark in a pool, but he did see an iguana once, down in Mexico. The pool wasn't completely full, the iguana was struggling to get out, and some boys were jabbing it with sticks. I die.
I had a play date with a couple I've been chatting with for a long time at 7. Had a hard time finding the place, but a great time once I got there. Chatty boys, both tops. I was going to top, too, but they're neg. I was hard enough I could probably have used a condom, but I'm just so damn good at bottoming, I didn't want to risk failure at something else.
Michael Perl was depressed, so we were going to go out to Flick's & Rich's. We're also both poor, though, so I invited him to have a couple drinks at my place first. We were pretty close to just staying in and fucking when Tim called. He was at his mailbox, and wanted to come by. Okey-dokey. I'm not sure if Tim stayed over-long or Michael did, but it got awkward by the end of the night. Maybe both were waiting for the other to leave. When Tim got ready to leave, I offered Michael a ride home...since it was cold out, I think that might have really been what he was waiting for.
