Appendicitis Would Kill Me
Nov. 19th, 2011 12:45 pmMeant to go out to LL Bear, but wasn't feeling very good. Turns out that was for the best, since I got a text from Big Eric at midnight that he needed to go to the ER for stomach pains. I figured he was just pregnant, but also that I shouldn't chance it. Sat playing video games on my phone and watching Archer until his roommate arrived, but the real show started around 2:30.
I guess there had been a fight outside of one of the bars - first came a gent with very large stab wounds, accompanied by a couple of freaking out girls. One of them had some of his blood on her hand, and kept walking around talking about how she needed to wash it off. She even demanded a hospital gown. A little later a gent came in with a bloody face and blood all over his clothes, but he seemed more excited with his toughness than worried about any injuries.
We were admitted to see Big Eric around 4 - it was appendicitis, and a good thing he came in when he did. Another 24-48 hours and it might have killed him. They were just trying to figure out if his insurance would let him have the surgery there, or he had to be transferred. A girl was admitted next to him because she had a cyst on vaj, causing the lining to fall out. She declined treatment after calling her brother and pleading with him not to hang up on her.
Big Eric was transferred up to La Jolla, his roommate went with him, and I got home around 7:30.
