Every Damn Time
Jul. 27th, 2008 10:20 amSaturday - Didn't sleep well again. This time I had a weird dream that Ken and I lived in an old house, like Chris and Brandon's. Just as we were getting ready for bed, I noticed a box against the wall with a handwritten sign on it, saying something about putting donations in and getting stuff back, a la the Tooth Fairy. I noticed some movement out of the corner of my eye, and there was a middle-aged Hispanic gent standing there, still and quiet and hoping that no one noticed him. I swung at him a bit, but somehow nothing connected. He explained that I could either put stuff in the box for him to take, or he'd just take what he wanted anyway. And it was no good trying to beat him up, he'd just take more stuff, could get in and out as he pleased, etc. I woke up very freaked out. Hopped over to the bathroom to pee (since my ankle was swollen and discolored) and lied down to try to sleep again. Took a while, but I eventually got there. I tried to snuggle against Ken, but I kept imagining he was really some monster with a disproportionately large head made up mostly of disproportionately large teeth, or else some tentacled humanoid or something. Not happy. Woke up fairly eraly for how poorly I slept, and we laid in bed for a little while. He sent Brandon, Chris, and Justin texts asking about breakfast, then started to get ready. Chris texted back (he'd been up since 6:30 to wait for his iphone) suggesting crepes, but that was nixed. He started getting ready, and I laid on the couch. Iced my swollen and discolored ankle, read some of my book. I hadn't meant to, but I ended up eating one of the vegan Chipotle burritos that roommate Anthony brought home. Brandon joined us, and we headed over to Mo's for breakfast. The Beehive Project was outside doing interviews - I went ahead and did mine, while the boys went inside and ate. $50 later, I got an HIV test! Met up with the boys, who were just finishing, and deciding to go to The Dark Knight with Justin. I opted out, of course, and putzed about online. E-mailed back and forth with Aimee, and talked to Anthony. Ate the other burrito, despite my best intentions. I was hungry! Also held plank, did some crunches, and worked my butt. Felt a little better afterwards, if disproportionately more sweaty, and Ken got home shortly thereafter.
We traipsed over to Hula's, where the boys ordered a few drinks and several appetizers to share. Matt and Allen joined us later, and most everyone was fairly tipsy. I hadn't drank anything, so I was fine, of course. Matt and Chris were going to stop at Mo's, then meet us at Bourbon, but Ken and Brandon were planning to ditch them. Something about them thinking Matt was shady. I've got a few thoughts on that, but left it alone. We stopped back at our place so Justin could change, and I had a drink there, just so I wouldn't be stone cold sober. We stopped by Bourbon, where the boys had drinks and I tried to ignore the screaming pain in my ankle. Ken went to the liquour store for a 5 hour energy, and got me some ibuprofin while he was there. Awww....I saw my friend Collen there, and hobbled over to chat with him for a little while. When the boys finished their drinks, they wanted to avoid running into Chris and Matt, so we headed over to Cheers. Straight Jason called on the way, and we invited him along. They played some pool, had some downright poisonously strong drinks, but eventually got bored of there. Ken wanted to run home to take care of his tummy, so I hobbled over to the store and got more 5 hour energies for Justin and Brandon. When I got back, Brandon was outside talking to a very angry Chris on the phone. I popped inside for a moment, then headed over to Justin's. Brandon didn't go with us, but I dropped Justin and Ken off at Rich's, whith the agreement that I'd just pick them up when they finished. Around 1 or so, Jason came by the house, mentioning that Ken and Justin had ditched him. Justin's light was on, and we watched Justin walk up his steps. He said "hi" to someone inside, but I don't know who. Jason stayed around a little while, sobering up, but didn't overstay his welcome. I got a text from Ken saying that Deadmaus was at Rich's, then hobbled over to Justin's. He was alone, so I hobbled home and waited. Around 2:30, I turned off the lights and laid down. Ken called a couple times, but only left one message, which got as far as "Hey honey" and was cut off by sirens. He sent a text a little after 4 saying he was at Justins.
