I slept very poorly but at least that made waking up easy. Woke Julian all gentle husband-like and took care of the morning chores. I made a decaf last night and opted to freeze it for the morning to avoid any caffeine traces or whatever, but it was an unusually chilly day. I'm definitely not complaining, especially given the recent heat, it was just ironic. I heard the door open around 10:30-11 and was surprised to see Julian. Something about the manager leaving early, so they juggled lunch breaks to ensure coverage. He also checked on the insurance claim, but it turns out the claim adjustor called and left a message for him, too.

I spent my lunch break applying to Mercy for Animals. They advertised an Assistant General Counsel position, and while I'm definitely not qualified for it, I did send in my resume and a cover letter explaining that I want to work or volunteer for them. We'll see what happens. I also got a text from Sean, fresh out of 4 months at Stepping Stone. I asked some general questions but didn't want to pry. I'm mostly just ecstatic he didn't fall to meth. Julian was a couple hours late getting home so I read next to Lady Miss Friday. I figured it was healthy, but still worried and texted. I thought about calling but he's not been great at answering or listening to voice mail. When he got home it was just approved and needed overtime. Yay money? He needed cigarettes so I went with him to the store. Picked up Splenda, almond milk, and some chips, though in retrospect I think they were too spicy the last time we tried them. Julian and Tim both have much higher capsaicin preferences/tolerances than I do, and it was an impulse buy to begin with, since it was on super sale. Julian bought snacking fancy cheese and we ran into Peter from TJ's. I suggested checking TJ's for cheeses, since they have a large, inexpensive selection but Julian declined, even after Peter confirmed it. He also laughed at the idea of Gorgonzola string cheese. I still went over when we finished at Ralph's to snag protein powder and vegan pizza. Julian requested it since Ralph's selection was so limited and he didn't want to make our own. They only have their pea protein now, not the soy one. IDGAF, but the soy one was bassically a low calorie multivitamin. The pea protein seems more focused on amino acids, which is fine because I take a daily multi anyway. A homeless lady asked me for food on the way out of TJ's, and while I'd ordinarily have run into Ralph's to buy her PB&J fixins, I already had very full bags and didn't want to keep Julian waiting. Ran back in, snagged a veggie wrap and dropped it off as I ran past.

Julian put off dinner when we got home, kind of amazed at how late it was and how quickly. I fought the urge to run to Lady Miss Friday - many times I've run in there terrified and she's just looked at me like "what?" We watched some 30 Rock, I fought the urge to critique plot holes...too much. Julian asked me at one point if I was hungry, but I can't ask for anything, ever, so we didn't eat. Kujo shit on the couch again the other day, thankfully on the shirt I leave to get their fur on it so Lady Miss Friday, but he was still avoiding the area. I rubbed his neck and back, then his feet and legs, then back to his back and torso. Like a massage, but just with very light caresses instead. You'd think I'd have been able to turn things to fucking, but see above about asking for anything. Part of it was uncertainty - I really didn't know whether I wanted it to turn to sex or not. Not every intimate situation needs to turn to sex. I went to bed still undecided, which I suppose makes that decision, and heard the crinkle of his chicharrones through the door. I felt kind of bad about him feeling like he needed to wait, but I suppose that's another communication thing. Lady Miss Friday was either in the closet or under the bed when I went in, but joined me shortly thereafter. Healthy.
