Julian was scheduled to close, so he didn't need to get up until 8:30. Sticking with that Healthy Relationship plot arc we're working on, I still cleaned the cat boxes, mopped the cat piss in the bathroom, fed the kids, gave Juno his shot, and did the dishes. When Julian went in for his shower, I made his coffee and set it to go. I'd have waited to kiss him goodbye but my inner lip was still fucked up. Even though I vaguely remembered biting myself, I kept worrying it was really a herpes outbreak or something. I messed up a consolidation at work then partly fixed and partly fucked it up again. Ah well. Overall, I thought I did a great job balancing extra work for ADI and extra work for Symbism. And I made a grocery bag full of soy curls that I'll eat over the next couple days, maybe even try to get Julian to cook. Unfortunately, the refrigerator wall guard broke again and so did all the glass containers. I saved his pickles, but sliced my hand in the process. Sadly, I could not save the strawberry jam. I finished a rough draft of Symbism's Bylaws and I'll start on the draft of Form 1023 next. And I won't submit Form 3500 this time, I'll just wait for our 501 status and submit a 3500A. There's other details to check - I'm still not sure on any required differences for a religious nonprofit vs a regular nonprofit, and it wouldn't hurt to talk to people about how we want to structure things. Right now, I'm leaning light on any doctrines or dialects. I/we believe altruism is the reason we're here. Who or what gave us that reason reasonable minds can disagree about. But I legit think we can solve the eventual heat death of the universe. More than that, I believe we can craft an existence that won't want for it. I tried to think it through, think how much this is just a giant Thank You to Lady Miss Friday and my mice and how much I really believe it. I felt confident when I signed off for the day.

When Julian got home he talked more about how much he hates closing and why. It's the same reason I prefer to work early - get it done and have time for other projects. But he did get paid today. No pay stub, but he got $1200. That's embarrassingly close to my pay, which is great for him. He might even make more than me once everything gets figured in, so it should be no problem for him to move into a studio here. He asked about my back and I talked through the various options available... And then he suggested I just use his lawn chair. Bingo! Fits and seats beautifully, should encourage my back to heal up.

I'd drifted off but came around when he mentioned his love of Mario Kart. I'm a little slow, so it didn't occur to me that Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 are both on the Nostalgia Machine, I just thought I could maybe sell him on both the Machine and Chocobo Racing in one swoop. I set up the Machine, kept my focus on Fun instead of Winning, and we played through a few races there before moving on to cooperative games like D&D and X-Men. I think we can safely add video games to our hobbies together. He found some galactic GTA he wanted to play - Destroy All Humans - but insisted he buy it instead of waiting for me to download it. Suits me fine.
