Baby Steps Are Still Steps
Jan. 1st, 2021 06:29 pmUnsurprisingly, I woke up crazy fucking early. Browsed around on Facebook for a bit, touched base with some of the folks I'd reached out to last night. Ron messaged me because he'd posted a meme with dogs saying people should hire escorts instead of buying fireworks, since they can "bang" us both. When I put my ad back up, I will actually offer a discount for people on holidays who agree not to take part in fireworks. No, I don't think it will accomplish much, and yes, people could always lie. But it would be another way to get the message across. I guess Ron didn't know about my night job, but I got to reminisce fondly about it, and I guess he was at the forefront of getting sexual surrogates for disabled individuals. I do really want to get back to my ho life in general. I need to figure out what the problem is, and not to be too simplistic about it, but getting that futon or whatever so I can fuck in the living room will probably be a big part of it.
I'd agreed to hook up with Robert, a strange gent I'd previously hooked up with a long time ago, so I was going to de-hobo myself. He has a beard now, and is honestly much more attractive with it. But it turned out he couldn't host, so I didn't de-hobo, and actually felt kind of relieved. Kenneth messaged me about work, and I gave him what advice I could, given that I'm not a Real Lawyer, much less and Employment lawyer. He'd called in sick over NYE, though he gave them too much information and mentioned it was at least partly out of fear. They got one of his shifts covered and tried to get him to come in for the other, but sick time is not a request. They responded by bringing up disability accommodations. He wanted out, but he also wanted them to pay for being such dicks. Even I can tell you that would be a long, protracted, and iffy battle requiring him to be a lot more financially solvent than he is.
I took a half pill and crashed next to Lady Miss Friday for another couple hours. It didn't fix me, but it gave me the energy to at least start my weekend productively. I was going to zip down to Discount Tire, but given what happened with Ralph's opted not to trust their website saying they were open, and called instead. Finding all sorts of benefits to having a working phone. Sure enough, it went straight to voicemail noting they were closed. I think Ralph's should/would have been open, but since the day was at two strikes trying to get me out of the house, I opted no to even pitch the 3rd time. Instead, I jumped online...and made my AOC Shade Twitter. It wasn't at the top of my list, and obviously not anywhere near the biggest mountains, but...progress is progress.
One of those Random FB Friends, where you have no idea who Friended who, when, or why, Lenny, had been making a lot of posts that caught my attention and I'd been commenting. He messaged me in the evening, and it was a good conversation. Maybe it was my Eternal Exhaustion talking, but it seemed like I was largely carrying the conversation for a while. I've never understood conversations like that.
"Them: Hey, how are you?
Me: I'm great! Had a very productive day. Worked on getting my car fixed, started the Fan Account I've been thinking of, and caught up on journaling! How are you?
Them: Good."
This one was nowhere near that extreme, but it felt like it had that aftertaste. My new stray friend had eaten all of the cat food last night (YAY), and I've decided to only refill it in the evening, since my porch gets too much sun during the day. I honestly don't even know if that matters, but I guess it lessens how long it's sitting out? I almost forgot to refill it, but thankfully I heard Merryweather running around near Lady Miss Friday's food as I was laying down and it reminded me. Shortly thereafter, I saw her staring outside near where I leave my catnip plants. Sure enough, my stray friend had stopped by for a snack. I actually left it for a moment because Lady Miss Friday wasn't yowling or growling. But then she took a step closer and hissed, so I swooped in. Not much to it, really, I just moved the catnip from the window and let the blinds block off the view. Selfishly, I still wanted to watch my stray friend eat, but obviously I prioritized my stray friend actually eating over watching. I dunno if she'd not noticed my catnip before, but on seeing the catnip behind the blinds, Lady Miss Friday seemed to get as stoned as I wish I could get. That's obviously a plus any time, but that instead of her hissing at a cat trying to get some dinner was a cherry on top.
