Pride Weekend - Member's Only Edition
Jul. 24th, 2007 07:45 amLeo rolled into town yesterday evening, and it was GOOD TIMES.....not quite the kind of wild times we usually partake in, but both Ken and I had to work today, so there was really only so much we could do. We met him at Mo's, with his sister Nancy and Dallas, and then went to Bourbon St. to watch the Wet Underwear contest. Nancy had never seen it before, and was astounded. Ken and I tapped out at that point, and went to bed.
Friday, we met Leo, Chris and Levi at Mo's, where Chris was recovering from drinking too much too fast, and then went home for just a bit before heading out to pick up Ken's best friend Dennis from the airport, and going directly to the Harbor Cruise. The cruise was fun, though I stayed largely sober, so that I could drive later, and there was some drama between Ken and Nelson at the end of the evening, which was forgiven and forgotten by the next day. we saw Brian and Greg several times throughout the evening, and Ken kept unzipping Brian's pants, thanks to their unique and suggestive zipper. Due to a misunderstanding, I got yanked down to the drunk tank at one point, and Ken accompanied me, but once they realized I was only buzzed, they let me go with instructions to watch out for Ken. :-) Chris, Levi, and Leo continued partying back at the hotel, but I had to get up early for the Parade, and Ken and Dennis were done for the evening.
In the morning, I walked down to the Parade site, which was startlingly close to home, and helped construct the float. I also got to meet a lovely young Rocky fan who had never been to Pride before..ah, youth. Finally, I found out some startling, and incredibly upsetting news from the show the night before, which had me contemplating taking a hiatus from the show. There were some costumes missing, which had been packed, but not brought from the night before, including Amy's Janet costume, the Columbia tube-top, and Rocky shorts. I walked back to Ken's and snagged my corset for Jess, but alas, my arch-nemesis, breasts, foiled that plan. I called Ken just as our section of the Parade was about to start going, to confirm that I was going to meet Ken about half-way through, and drop out at that point, since I wasn't actually wearing a costume, and I've never been very good at handing out flyers, but he didn't answer. I marched shirtless, with a cast shirt tied around my waist, but eventually just took it off when it kept falling. Didn't see Ken at the pre-determined meeting place, so I finished the Parade route. This was really not a bad thing, as I got to feel like I had not half-assed things.
The not-so-nice thing about it was that Ken still wasn't answering after the Parade, and so I walked the Parade route again, this time going the other way, back to Taste of Italy and Rich's looking for him. Unable to find him in either, I managed to find Brandon and Chris at Rich's, but he didn't answer their calls, either. I also found Chris and Levi, and they told me that he was there, looking for Dennis, and we were going to regroup before heading out to the pool party...we waited at the regrouping point for a while before hearing tell that Ken had left. Figuring we'd just meet him at Glenn's, Brandon, Chris and I started walking home, only to see Ken and Dennis walking a few hundred feet ahead of us. Dennis was tipsy, and Ken was DRUNK and asking for his sandwich. On seeing us, he wanted to impress on Dennis how gorgeous I was, how much he had missed me, and how upset he was that I didn't drop out when I was supposed to. I pointed out that I was supposed to drop out when I saw him, and that never happened, and we went in circles for a bit. Also at some point on the walk home, he decided that he wanted to have sex with me, and wasn't going to take "no" for an answer. Back at home, already in the middle of things, Ken agrees with me that it's somewhat rude to leave Dennis, Chris and Brandon waiting for us in the living room. Brandon knocks on the door, because he needs his swimsuit, and Ken invites him in. I will eventually have no problem with Brandon filming us, but stone cold sober is the antithesis of the state I will be in when that happens, so I leap off of Ken and into the bathroom. I get dressed, help Ken do the same, and have to run to catch Chris and Brandon, who are getting ready to drive to Glenn's themselves, but we eventually gather everyone up and head out as one big happy family.
At the party, I opt to wait with Ken's phone, since we're expecting a call from Leo and company, while the boys play in the pool. I have a drink, but make it last a while; certainly long enough that the boys decide they're done, and not waiting for Leo any longer. We head back home, and kick it there for a while before heading over to Leo's hotel room and over to Montage. Now that I'm not driving, I decide it's time to get my drink on, and mix a Mint/vodka/diet at home, which only gets more vodka at Leo's, and drink that so I won't have to buy/be bought any drinks at Montage.
Naturally, I'm pretty F'ed up by the time we get there, and despite a warning outside that I need to sober up, or won't be allowed in, decide to sit down inside. I get thrown out, of course, and don't really know what to do after that, so I call Ken, who is not answering, and try to get back in myself....I get threatened with a citizen's arrest, and after calling Ken a few more times, I walk home, stopping random people to borrow their phones along the way. It's only a 3 mile walk from Montage to home, but three miles is a long way in the wee hours of the morning. A few blocks from home, two black gents pick me up, and I go with them for Mexican, and they drop me off at home. I finally get home, and go to Justin's to call Ken a couple times...he picks up after I call a few times, and tells me that he took a cab home, and is pissed off.
Back at home, we fight for a bit, and Dennis calls to remind Ken that he's still down at Montage. I'm sober by this point, so I drive down and pick him up, eat something and have more to drink, and then Ken and I keep fighting back at home. We also chat with a few boys and end up having some fairly acrobatic sex into the early hours of the morning before going to sleep. In the morning, we invite a 3rd over, but it turns out we also got kind of rough the night before, as I'm a bit bloody, so sex isn't going to happen. Ken and Dennis find the message I leave for the guy telling him it's not going to happen HI_LARIOUS, and then we get on with our day. Nelson calls in a table at Mo's, and after some drama with an abrasive security guard, we set down to eat. I have a few of Ken's fries, but that's about it, and Ken opts not to eat most of his meal. I only have one drink, since I know I'm going to have to drive Dennis to the airport, and us to the Erasure concert, though Ken doesn't take that same track. We largely just party at Justin's, and then it's time to go. Originally, Ken is not going to go with me to the airport, because he turns into an emotional basket case, but does for the sake of timing, and gets all teary eyed. He also mentions that he had said to Dennis once, "It's a shame you're not gay, because we're perfect for each other", and reiterates the same...I'm a little insulted, but not much, because I know my honey loves me.
We drive nearish to the Festival, though it's still a looooooong walk, and set down to wait for Erasure. The smell of food is overwhelming, and I go to pick up some food for Ken, and run into one of the gents from Saturday who let me borrow his phone. He doesn't remember me, but I thank him anyway. Justin, Elizabeth, and Kenny join us, having taken a taxi due to inebriation. The concert is good, though not really my thing. Ken is clearly ecstatic to have me there, which makes it kind of worth it. Still, it's not my thing, and when I need to run to the bathroom half-way through, I take my time getting back. I also run into several people I know, which takes even longer. I get back one or two songs from the end, and then we begin the long, long trek back to the car. It seems even longer walking back than it was walking there, and Ken and the others drinkers are all miserable from dehydration. We stop at the 7-11, and pick up "The Best Root Beer EVER" and waters, and finally find the car.
Leo and company are already at Justin's, waiting for us, and we hang out there for a bit. We were going to see Rosabel at 4th & B, but tickets for that are $75, which is a bit much for even these boys, and opt to go to Rich's instead. I'm not feeling well, since I haven't eaten since the French Fries that morning, but I eat some crackers and a veggie burger, and feel much better. We head off to the hotel, where I have a drink, and then walk to Rich's. Almost there, Ken taps out with an upset stomach. I kind of want to party, but decided a long time ago to spend my Pride weekend with Ken, so opt to stay home with him instead.
Even though I stayed home on Sunday, I still stayed home from work on Monday....kind of regretful of that now, but at 6:30 in the morning, little sounds so good as sleeping in...besides, we had ROCKIN sex in the afternoon.
