We Meet Again

thepnutgalleryWoke up ridiculously early - 3am? Such is the problem with going to the gym so late. Still struggling to find my way studying. Got invited out to Martini's Above 4th with Dave. His son moved out to CA sometime ago, but we just never found the right time to connect. His son is a nice guy; it's only a little strange that I dated his dad, given that he's just a few years younger than me. I'm gonna invite him out to stuff in the gayborhood, and hope he doesn't take too many of my dates, since we share a predilection for older men.
Bill Senovitz was having a birthday party, and I had just enough time to stop and grab a bottle of wine and some chips before arriving. The invite had said that nothing was needed, but I think it's a little tacky to show up empty handed for a party. Unfortunately, it seemed that, like most of the parties there, "nothing needed" means "nothing needed, because we have each other!" They did zero planning - there was no booze, no mixers, no food, aside from what people happened to bring in spite of the invite telling them not to. I'm all for potluck style birthdays or whatever, but you should at least tell your guests that's what it is.
It was mostly nice to see everyone again. I saw Joe and James, who were great up until James went from 0-60 miles per drunk in the span of a few minutes and had to be taken home. Nick was there, and has been a little scared to see me. This is understandable, given that he still owes me $1200. He's staying at the Friendship Hotel and is heavier than I last saw him. While getting money back would be nice, it's always worse to have to steal than to be stolen from and all that. The only real awkwardness was later in the night, when I was standing behind a seated Nick, happened to glance down and saw Ken's name on his texting screen. A little stunned, a little drunk, and not wanting to snoop, I didn't read any of the messages, but it did kind of punch me in the face. I had noticed Nick on Scruff a couple hundred feet away the other week, but figured that there are *lots* of tricks in the area. I talked with Beth about it outside, and then with Nick. He says he hasn't fucked him yet, but I'm closer. I reiterated that I have difficulty being friends with people who sleep with a man that wants me dead.
I could maybe have made it to Rich's after, but I was so tired I just went home.
