Beaches and Booze
Dec. 21st, 2021 12:37 pmMy day in the office, but since I couldn't sleep until 4ish, I made a very strong coffee and brought a bottle of caffeine with me. And then Jill & Cindi offered a coffee run for everyone on site today! I only fought with myself a little whether it would be worse to accept something from someone or the possibility of no one accepting and them feeling bad. Got an "almondmilk sugar cookie latte," and it was delightful. Julian texted me that he wasn't allowed to work today; CA discourages 7-day work weeks. He went to Rachel's instead and was still there when I got home. They went to OB and bought Xmas presents for his folks, and now he was helping with laundry. I used the extra time alone to clean. Lady Miss Friday was unusually pleased to see me when I finished and laid with her. Always such a joy, tempered with worry. Julian called again and let me know he was on his way home. He kept apologizing for being so late, but Lady Miss Friday was physically on top of me, so I was in no rush. I called Tim for advice on leading the meeting tomorrow after, but he was busy on Pam's boat.
Julian was a bit tipsy when he got home and accelerated immediately, but he showed me the gifts. Some gorgeous teaware, a fairy ornament, and a stained glass mermaid. He also bought a stained glass sailboat for us and Rachel gave us a couple gifts. He suggested dinner but I really wasn't hungry. He said he wasn't really a hungry guy either, but made some Totino's Pizza Rolls and gyoza. He must've been hungry, because he started cussing me out for telling Candace that he's behind on rent. I reviewed the video - thank heavens for my electric recording! - and I mentioned it because he feels like he's the only one working towards buying a house. It was an awkward semi-fight exacerbated by the caffeine wearing off, but he apologized when I explained what happened. And then apologized because he drank the vodka over the last couple weeks every Tuesday while I was at work. He kept apologizing and was terrified I'd be pissed. Awkward to say, but I'm delighted. The form of the booze doesn't make much difference when you're set on blacking out, just affects how quickly you get there. Now that he's admitted that booze took the wheel, hopefully we can get serious about recovery.
