Concrete Myths
Sep. 1st, 2021 12:35 pmPaid the rent in the morning, but 1520 didn't feel right when I wrote it. I hadn't even started smoking yet, so it must've just been one of those wordnesia type things. I applied for the job Christina posted and sent a message so it wouldn't be out of left field. We also had a meeting for work. It was Lori's turn to lead and she wanted to know what moment we had that let us know we'd get through anything life could throw at us. Even though I have that whole rehab thing, I think that's more luck than anything. I chose Mousey's death. The guiltgrief combo is killer. Lynelle shared the story of her cat again, as everyone else hadn't heard it. There were some astounding tales from others as well. Lots of odds defied. I called my mom again and this time got through to her. Unfortunately, she seems to have slid a little further down some conspiracy rabbit holes, stating that both the virus and the vaccine are biological warfare. She heard it on TikTok, and from Dr. Liz, the neurologist who stayed with us for a bit. She plans to go off grid. I keep trying to tell her I'm more than happy to discuss any of these things, but she just needs to have her sources there. I snagged my Lyft to the dentist early, but still didn't get seen until late. I still joked with everyone and I asked about losing insurance in the middle of a treatment plan. You're not supposed to go too long on a temporary crown. No more than a month, two is pushing it. I could probably swap most of my diet to be tofu or softer seitan like mock duck just so nothing upset it. Just to extend the life of it. Timing-wise, it worked out perfectly that Julian could pick me up, the front office just forgot about the credit. I think they got it figured it out.
When I gave Juno his evening shot, I also talked to Julian about not giving them canned food, and got him to agree. They get AYCE dry, quality food, there's no real reason for the canned food as well. I smoked again, but it was unfortunately one of those nights nothing felt like it hit me. Then Terry came by. He wanted to let me know he also got ketamine for his depression - I'd argue it's far more dangerous for him than me, since he freely admitted how much he loves the stuff - and also that he was going into the hospital to bassically detox from booze, asked us to look after Taka. He had some unusually honest messages for us, and gave me a dollar coin, Buddha necklace, and an open bottle of silver Double Scorpio. He was quite distraught but it felt like that trope of a child's imagination for ordinary objects. It had been a while since I added poppers to my mix and it was pretty great. Gave me the bump that I needed to get to my happy place. So to speak.
