In the morning, I found out I got the schedules mixed up and I was supposed to do NOAs yesterday. Oops. Plowed into claims for most of the day, and on my lunch break finally did some house work. Taking out the trash, recycling, cleaning out the girl's cage, etc, but didn't get around to doing any of the things I need to do to not be a hobo.

Ani DiFranco popped into my head, initially "The Whole Night," then made its way over to "Both Hands," but the version I found seemed....off. I messaged FHA, and it turns out the version he introduced me to was from her re-release. AHA! We're gonna get together soon, I just need his snack/drink preferences.

An online horror comic I read a few years ago had been swimming in the back of my memory for a few days, so I took some time to investigate. It's about a woman repeatedly dreaming of a door. It starts rattling, and eventually she hears screaming and banging coming from it...and wakes up. Then one night she dreams the door is open, gets up and goes through it, and finds a fantastical Garden of Eden kind of place. Wanders around for a while before finding the door again, but now it's closed. She tries to open it, and the handle just rattles, stuck or locked or something. She continues trying to get it open, and a pair of large red claws reach out across her head from out of frame.

Without any names, it took me a little while to find that, trying different keywords in my searches, while terrified I'd stumble onto something to give me nightmares. Eventually, I found my way to Emily Carroll's site, and almost turned back at the welcome image, which features a woman bent over, and the flesh on her back Lava Lamping into the air below a dismembered, monstrous hand. But another source led me right back there, and after some scanning, I found When The Darkness Presses, the one I was thinking of, and The Hole The Fox Did Make. The latter had a deeper emotional impact, but I guard against those, so the time travel in the first one made it stick out. The Fox is also about a recurring dream, but this time about a young girl who keeps dreaming of a voice in the woods directing her to what turns out to be a body. I don't remember all the details here, but in a fight over the man, one woman drowns another. I'm not sure if it's her mum or a mistress that does the killing. The kid ends up drowning herself in the same spot, though.
