Since it was an Essay workshop day, I picked Nina up and headed down to class. I did so much better than the practice essays from last year. 3 subjects down, 13 to go. Dropped Nina back off at home, then studied on my own for a while. Around 6pm, I got a text from Tim, asking if I could possibly pick him up from the San Diego airport and take him to Carlsbad, where his car was. At the time, I was irritated - if it had just been me, I would have scrapped the LA plans and taken him, but since Daniel had just bought his ticket in reliance on my ride there, and having a place to stay, I couldn't do that now. Left to pick up Daniel at 6:45.
It being a holiday weekend, I was expecting TONS of traffic, but I didn't hit any at all. We said hello to Greg, and more importantly, to Greg's Jack Russel puppy, Buddy, and the visiting dog Gigi, got introduced to Greg's friend Dale, and left to go to Michael Trigg's. Michael is somewhere up high on the ladder at Wet Lubricants, has had lots of plastic surgery, and seemed overly preoccupied that his French Bulldog had his first erection the other day. A little eccentric, but a very nice man. We took the Wet Limo over to the Mayan, I got to meet Tony Moran, and we all danced. The music was okay - one gogo dancer in particular was absolutely gorgeous. At some point, I found myself alone for a long while, so I went wandering. The music never really picked back up for me, except briefly when the DJ played a remix of "4 Minutes." Most everyone was pretty cracked out, and though I can ignore that in some circumstances, when the crowd is on drugs and the music is catering to that, I find it difficult. We left around 3:30, Daniel opting to stay. I had a feeling he might stay in LA for NYE like he originally planned, but didn't dare drive back immediately on the off hand chance that he did come home. I stayed up playing with Buddy for a while, but eventually dozed off around 6am with Buddy on my legs.
