Thanksgiving - Ken went to pick up his Mum in the morning. I had other stuff I had been going to do, but having stayed up so late the night before, I slept right through. Eventually got up, got cleaned up, went out to say hello. We drove up to Ken's aunt's place, where the turkey was in the oven, and she was just finishing up putting together the squash and pomegranate salad she made just for me. She also had instant mashed potatoes that proclaimed proudly "Suitable for Vegetarians!" and listed just three ingredients: Potatoes, Salt, Butter. Wah-wah. Mashed potatoes have never been the highlight of TG for me, so I wasn't really worried. We all had a glass of wine, Paulette put out some veggies to snack on, and they chatted in the living room while I tried to work on my paper. Unfortunately, I couldn't log on to the interwebs, so I couldn't access any of my case files online. Rats. There was one moment where Paulette and JD, her husband, were having a minor disagreement, and I could swear I was listening to Ken and I. He wanted to know something specific, and she just refused to give a straight answer. Whatever it was, it was pretty apparent, so it didn't need an answer, but other than him being wrong, he was just like me. :-D The turkey wasn't ready at 2, so we checked it again at 2:30, then again at 2:45. "Checking" consisted of hacking into the joint for one of the legs, so by the time the thing was done (even though only the top half was), it was also fairly mutilated. They carved up the top, put the bottom back in to get fixed up, and made everything else. Dinner was good, and I again didn't eat very much. One plate of salad, tofurkey and squash, and another two rolls. The stuffing wasn't vegan, and neither were the desserts. I washed the seemingly never-ending dishes, we hung out chatting a bit more, and then headed home. We saw a few people at Flick's, so we decided to check out the 10pm game. There was a little confusion over whether Ken wanted me there or not, but it eventually subsided. We almost didn't make it out, but got dressed and walked over anyway. Flicks was having some kind of private thing, Rich's was closed, Universal was closed, Mo's had country line dancing. I did stop by Ralph's and pick up more diet coke, even though I hate shopping on holidays. Headed home, where I finished off the tofurkey, and we headed to bed.
